Joure: the village without the frills of a city

Joure (or De Jouwer as we say in Friesland) is a friendly spot: the village with the character of a city. Known for its annual Frisian balloon festival, the fun Midstraat street, Heremastate park, the marina and of course Douwe Egberts coffee and Pickwick tea. Joure was home to the very first Douwe Egberts store, laying the foundation for the famous coffee and tea multinational. You can find out all about it in the neighbouring museum in Joure. Why not enjoy a steaming cup of real Douwe Egberts coffee in the friendly museum café while you're there? And take a 'Jouster kuierke' city walk to find out all about this beautiful historic location. Would you like to discover Joure?

FRISIAN BALLOON FESTIVAL

The Frisian balloon festival is the main event in Joure. During this five-day festival, join your family and friends in amazement at the many shapes of hot air balloons taking to the skies. You name it, it's there: a super bike, a flying dog or even a complete windmill. If you prefer to keep both feet firmly on the ground, there's plenty of live music to be enjoyed, along with the funfair, food trucks and more.
