Take a look

Museum Joure is a surprising maker museum in the heart of Joure's center. The famous centerpiece is the first Douwe Egberts factory, where you can experience the story behind this world-renowned brand. Also worth a visit are the photogenic Metal Foundry of Keverling, where copper used to be cast, and the authentic Print Shop where printers are in action every Thursday. Next door, you'll find a Frisian Clockmaker's shop and the largest collection of Frisian clocks in the world.

In total, the museum consists of 10 monumental buildings, together forming the oldest industrial area of Joure. There was always a lot of activity here, and there still is. At Museum Joure, you'll experience the passion for making and, of course, you can also get hands-on yourself!

Museum Joure is fun for young and old(er) alike, and also ideal for groups. Enjoy strolling among and inside the monumental buildings, and afterwards, indulge in a (complimentary) cup of Douwe Egberts coffee or tea in the cozy museum café. When the weather is nice, relax on our garden terrace, where a large chestnut tree serves as your natural parasol.

Don't forget to browse around in De Witte Os, the famous shop where Douwe Egberts once began. Transport yourself back to the 19th century with freshly roasted coffee, loose leaf teas, polkabroks, licorice, aniseed, and many other goods 'from then'. The shop's interior, with its beamed ceiling, lime walls, and wooden floor, gives a good impression of how it looked in the past.
