De Lytse Marren cycling route
This cycling route leads through the Frisian countryside, along the towpath next to the Warkumer Trekfeart waterway, past lakes with their scenic reeds and water views and through picturesque Frisian villages with their cultural and historical monuments. The route starts in Bolsward. The magnificent old city centre with its picturesque canals and ornate city hall is worth seeing. The famous Sonnema Beerenburg herbal liqueur is distilled here and the Broerekerk church is just one of many impressive monuments and historical buildings.
If you like panoramic views, you will be in your element in this area! There is always a breeze here so the sky is always beautifully clear as you cycle through lots of pretty little villages where time seems to have stood still.

Greonterp Bell Tower
The Greonterp bell tower was built in 1822. It consists of a square stone substructure, a pyramidal wooden superstructure, a bell chamber with baffled openings and a spire. There are similar bell towers in Hinnaard and Hartwerd.

The Broerekerk was built in the 13th century as a monastery church of the Friars Minor. The monastery was abandoned and demolished in 1580. The three-aisled church without a tower is a ruin as a result of a fire that took place on 8 May 1980.
