On Friday 23 February 1945, Jacob Wilbers was arrested during a raid in Woudsend, a day later Johannes Wissink in Gaastmeer. Both had been arrested by the Germans as Dutch resistance fighters. They were executed a few days later.

On Friday 23 February 1945, Jacob Wilbers was arrested during a raid in Woudsend, a day later Johannes Wissink in Gaastmeer. Both had been arrested by the Germans as Dutch resistance fighters. They were executed a few days later.
Jacob Wilbers was a teacher at the Christian primary school in Abbega, but also served in the resistance as an officer of armament of the Dutch Interior Forces in the municipality of Wymbritseradeel. On February 23, 1945, Wilbers was arrested while in hiding with GP Bonga in Woudsend.
Johannes Wissink was a ship carpenter with the Royal Navy in Den Helder. A few months after the German invasion in May 1940, Wissink left for Sneek, where as a former non-commissioned officer he became commander of the resistance sabotage group. Wissink operated under the pseudonym 'Alex'. On February 12, 1945, Wissink was involved in the liberation of resistance members from the police station in Sneek. The day after, a raid was carried out by SD and Landwachters between Oudega and Gaastmeer. Wissink was identified and arrested from an SD car.
On February 27, 1945, Johannes Wissink was executed together with Jacob Wilbers in the woods near Oudemirdum.
