On Thursday, December 14, a special concert will be performed in the Hobbe van Baerdt Church in Joure at 8 p.m. by the National Symphonic Chamber Orchestra, North Netherlands Chamber Choir with various soloists. The whole is led by Jouster conductor Jan Vermaning.
The 50 musicians will perform various world-famous works, including compositions by Handel, Mozart, Barber, Rutter and Finzi. Gerald Finzi's 'In Terra Pax,' is a setting of two verses from Robert Bridges' beautiful poem, 'Noel: Christmas Eve, 1913', subtitled "Pax hominibus bonae voluntatis" (Peace and goodwill to all men), which Finzi uses ingeniously and skilfully to St. Luke's account of the appearance of the angels to the shepherds. An impressive and atmospheric work. Performers: North Netherlands Chamber Choir, National Symphonic Chamber Orchestra, Meike Wijma – soprano and Edmond Chu – baritone.
The whole, the entrance, lighting and atmosphere will be warm and magical. And of course the hot chocolate should not be missed.
