Quietly located at the edge of the forest and the river Luts (the eleven-city route), in the green heart of Gaasterland. Some romantic old box beds as well as several four-poster beds can function as sleeping-place. The country house also has a conversation room/lounge, living room, dining room/second kitchen (the original taproom), spacious kitchen-diner, toilets, and showers. Among other things, very suitable for a family reunion, company training, team building, or to receive your (foreign) guests.
Due to the layout of the property (including two kitchens), it is not only a group accommodation but also a suitable accommodation for two families who want to stay together in one accommodation, but with enough space.Â
HISTORY OF KIPPENBURG
Oncko van Swinderen, esquire, (1775 – 1850) from Groningen built the country house Kippenburg around 1830. He also founded a poultry yard there, to which the name refers. Oncko's father came from Groningen, and his mother was a descendant of the Frisian family van Wyckel who had many possessions in Gaasterland. Now, after six generations, the house is still owned by a a direct descendant, namely Lady A.M.J. van Panhuys.
From about 1854 to 1985 Kippenburg is used as a lodge/inn. Partly because of its beautiful location in the green heart of Gaasterland, this was one of the most famous stopping places of Friesland. Nowadays, the country house as a whole can be rented for groups. Both the exterior and the layout of the building are still largely unaltered.
Kippenburg is a national monument and a NSW (protected) estate. Among other stretches of forest, the estate is surrounded by the Star Numan and Lycklama woodlands. The surrounding forests used to belong to the family property.
