At the end of the 19th century, a large dairy factory called the Maatschappij Hollandia was built in Scharsterbrug. It operated under various management for a long time and underwent several renovations and expansions. Today, only the old factory chimney serves as a reminder of the past.
The dairy factory is now part of Vreugdenhil, where it is responsible for producing milk powders and manufacturing ingredients for infant nutrition.
