The Pelgrim Studio is located on the ground floor of the church tower and is equipped with a kitchenette that is fully equipped, including a Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, refrigerator, electric hob and an oven. The studio has two single beds (which we can also make into a double bed). Guests can relax in the quiet church garden, which offers several seating areas and a hammock. Here it is also possible to pick mint or lemon leaves for a refreshing cup of tea.
What makes this accommodation special
A special aspect of the studio is the preserved old staircase to the bell tower, which now provides access to a cozy sitting area with a view of the church square and the Rijksweg. Here you can enjoy a drink while looking out over the surroundings.

Jirnsum is a historic village from the 7th century. It is centrally located on the river De Boarn in the municipality of Leeuwarden. Surrounded by meadows and lakes, it is the perfect base for exploring Friesland. You can cycle, walk, sail, practice yoga or just relax on a terrace or in our church garden. Nearby you will find cozy villages such as Akkrum, Terherne and Grou, full of nice shops and cafes. For a complete city experience, Leeuwarden, Sneek and Heerenveen are a short distance away.

After living abroad for 20 years, my family and I returned to my native Friesland. From the big city of Beijing to the village of Jirnsum. A big change in landscape but oh how we enjoy nature and the peace and space here. We also enjoy it when our guests are having a good time, when they have cycled a beautiful route, taken a nice boat trip or just read a book in the garden. Our guests have a lot of privacy in the studios and can choose to make their own breakfast or have us take care of it, I always do this with great pleasure. Usually we give a tour of the building, we show how we live in a former church, we show the clock and for those who dare, the bell. Of course we also tell you more about the building and our vision.
Tips from the owner
My tips for our guests, good food at the 2 Gemeenten in the village, rent a boat at Bauke. But also a visit to my favorite city Franeker and of course the Eise Eisinga Planetarium should not be missed. I myself paint and am an art lover, I always encourage our guests to visit the unique Jopie Huisman museum in Workum.
