As early as 1132, there was a parish church dedicated to St. Odulphus on this churchyard. The church was served from the St. Odulphus Abbey in Stavoren. In 1580, like all Frisian parish churches, the church converted to the Reformation. The building itself was demolished in the mid-18th century.
