Location
The holiday home is located in the built-up area of the picturesque town of Gaastmeer, the most beautiful village in Friesland. It lies between the pools and lakes in the southwest corner of the province. The house is situated in a converted farm, which also serves as a dairy farm. 'Aldwar Pleats' is the name of the house and Aldwar means a low-lying strip of land, between the water. Pleats is the Frisian word for farm. For a long time, the farm belonged to a parcel of pastureland called Aldwar, hence the name. The location is very suitable for a holiday with children. In the vicinity of Gaastmeer you can enjoy plenty of water sports, cycling and walking. The house is located on the famous St. Odulphuspad. In the village of Gaastmeer you will find a village shop and two restaurants. In addition, the Eleven Cities cities of Sneek and IJlst are nearby and you can cycle to the beaches on the IJsselmeer via the ferries within an hour.

The holiday home is wheelchair friendly and very suitable for families. There is still the possibility to rent an extra room in the form of a Bêd & Brochje (bed & breakfast) room, built under the roof of the same farm. You can use a rowing boat for free. You also have free access to the farm with all kinds of animals, such as cows, calves, horses, ponies, chickens, rabbits and two goats. Children are allowed to brush the ponies and horses. A boat dock is also available.
Important to know
Children can watch the animals and the work on the farm under the supervision of their parents and are sometimes also allowed to help, for example with milking the cows, feeding the calves and taking care of the horses and ponies.
