The oldest church in Hilaard is the Johannes de Doperkerk. Notably, the 13th-century tower of this church displays both a saddle roof and a bell gable. The church itself dates back to the 15th or 16th century and is a Gothic single-aisle church originally dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
