Reahûs is a village in the municipality of Southwest Friesland, located north of Sneek and between Scharnegoutum and Oosterend.
The history of Reahûs is closely intertwined with both the history of the Roman Catholic parish and the Reformation. In the 17th century, the village emerged as a hamlet near Oosterend after the Reformation, when it was forbidden for Catholics to openly practice their faith. In 1709, believers sought refuge in a clandestine church, established in a residence on the Slypstervaart on the old Pôle.
After the transformation of this little shelter church into a church building with red roof tiles, it was named the Red House. Only at the end of the 19th century, when Catholics were again allowed to construct churches with such roof tiles, the current neo-Gothic church, St. Martinus, was erected in 1892. Various houses were built around this church. Regarding hospitality, the terrace at camping De Finne is a popular spot.
