On this route, you'll come across several concrete bridges and culverts that cannot be opened. The bridge in the harbor basin of Oudega is the tightest spot: it's the bottleneck in this route. The majority of the route is a waterway in category DM, suitable for boats with a draft of 1.3 meters and a height of 2.3 meters. To reach the Ringwiel, you have to traverse a section of a narrower waterway with waterway classification F: suitable for boats with a maximum draft of 0.8 meters. This route is also suitable for traveling with an (electric) sloop.
Sights on this route
Ankertsjerke Oudega SWF
Central in the originally medieval water village of Oudega, you will find the Ankertsjerke. Situated on a small enclosed cemetery right along the east-west axis along which the village originated. A lush ivy adorns the south facade in a thick green coat.
Ringwiel en Hop
The road to the beautiful village of Sandfirden is also the endpoint, as you gaze upon the Hop and the Ringwiel.
Sânfurd Church
Sânfurd (Sandfirden) is one of the most beautiful spots in Friesland. A picturesque village nestled between the Frisian lakes. The old church of Sânfurd regularly hosts cultural activities and is also available for rent, for example, for lectures.
Bekema's pôle (FL44)
Marrekrite mooring spot Beekhúspolle - better known as Bekema's pôle - is an uninhabited islet in the middle of the Oudegaaster Brekken.
