The 'Close By' camping pitches are for campers who want to camp truly close to the beach. They are located 30 to 100 meters from the beach and 15 to 80 meters from the sanitary building. Each pitch averages 100 m² in size and comes standard with 10A electricity. Cars may be parked at the pitch, and pets are allowed. Wireless internet is available throughout the site for a fee. The heated toilet building features showers, toilets, toilet cabins, a chemical toilet, washing-up facilities, and a baby changing room.

Important to know
Because the campsite is located on a public beach, a shower card with a balance is required to use the showers. The rate for showering is €0.23 per minute. A deposit of €7.50 applies to the shower card, which comes with an initial balance of €5.00. The shower card can be topped up with coins in the toilet block or at the reception. Any remaining balance and the deposit will be refunded at the end of the stay.

Camping De Holle Poarte is situated directly on the boulevard and beach of Makkum, on the IJsselmeer. The shallow water is ideal for families and provides a peaceful swimming and play area. Makkum itself is a historic village with a charming boulevard, restaurants, and shops. The campsite is a great base for discovering Friesland. Picturesque towns such as Bolsward, Workum, and Harlingen, the Afsluitdijk, and bird-rich nature reserves like the Makkumer Súdwaard are nearby. There is also plenty to do for nature lovers: walk through the nature reserve opposite the campsite, spot birds, rent a boat, or take a cruise on the Wadden Sea or the Frisian inland waterways. End the day on the boulevard with a drink and enjoy the sunset over the IJsselmeer.
