The De Skries hikers' cabin is suitable for six to eight people and is therefore ideal for larger groups. The cabin has two closed bedrooms for three people and a sofa bed in the living room for extra sleeping space. The kitchen is fully equipped for eight people, with a stove, fridge-freezer and kitchenware. Furthermore, the cabin has a veranda, picnic table and garden furniture.

Workum and surroundings
Of course you want to see something of the surroundings during your holiday. Get out and about! There are many different possibilities from our campsite. We will mention a few:
- Take a day trip to one of the Wadden Islands. Within half an hour you will be at the ferry to Vlieland or Terschelling.
- Or just a quick bike ride! We have handy cycling maps that you can take with you. This way you can cycle to places like Bolsward, Harlingen, Sneek, Hindeloopen, Stavoren on a sunny day... just like Workum, all '11-cities' cities.
- How about walking in the Gaasterland forests?
- Or exploring Friesland from the water? Workum is a great base for all of these!

Workum and surroundings

- Our campsite is located near the IJsselmeer and the adjacent nature reserve "De Workumerwaard", also known as the bird paradise of Friesland. This area is managed by “It Fryske Gea” and you can only visit this special area with a guide (by appointment).
There is also plenty to do in Workum itself! This vibrant town offers a very diverse range. Culture and conviviality; in addition to the Jopie Huisman Museum, there are also various galleries that you can visit. Have a nice drink on a terrace on the Merk and then browse around in the various shops in the centre of Workum. Blow out or sunbathe? (Kite)surfing or a brisk walk? It is all possible on the beach of Workum, just 1500 metres from the campsite. Workum station is 3.5 kilometres from the campsite. From Workum you can take the train to Sneek, Leeuwarden and Stavoren. From Stavoren you can also take the ferry across the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen. At the reception we have all kinds of information for a fun day out!
