On safari in Friesland? It is possible in this cool and atmospheric safari tent in Grou. With air conditioning for cooling or heating. The tent is suitable for four people and has two bedrooms. One of the rooms has a double bed and the other room has a bunk bed. There is a cozy living room with dining and sitting area and a complete kitchen. This kitchen is fully equipped, such as a dishwasher and Nespresso! You also have your own bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. On the veranda there is an extra outdoor kitchen and there is comfortable outdoor furniture. In the private backyard there is also a seat, dining set, barbecue and there is a sandpit for the kids.
This safari lodge in Grou has a beautiful spot with plenty of greenery to the left, right, and back. Inside, there is a super-quiet air conditioner for cooling or heating. Furthermore, there is free secure Wi-Fi (20GB/day) and a Smart TV with NLZiet and the option to stream via your own subscriptions. Outside on the cozy wooden veranda, there is an additional outdoor kitchen with a gas stove, BBQ grill, and a pancake maker. In the sheltered backyard, there is a charcoal barbecue and a fun sandbox for the little ones. Guests of the Grutte Fiif Safarilodge receive our discount voucher for the rental of an electric sloop. Do you want to stay with more than 4 people? Then book the option with us afterwards to bring your own small extra tent, which you can place right in front of the Safarilodge. Up to 2 additional guests or visitors may stay in this tent for a small fee per person per night.
- Please note: this is only the price for the stay! Mandatory additional costs are charged by the landlord. The tourist tax amounts to €1.65 per person per night for guests aged 5 and over. Additionally, an environmental fee of €1.90 per person per night and a linen package of €13 per person per stay apply. A deposit of €125 per stay is also required. These costs are paid directly to the landlord.
- The glamping tent stands on wooden stilts and is therefore not suitable for people with disabilities.
- The tent is not rented to minors.
- Smoking and parties are prohibited.
- Max. 2 dogs allowed. Additional costs: € 3.50 p/n and a € 19 surcharge for cleaning costs.
- A small extra tent (with its own mattress, etc.) is permitted right in front of the Safari Lodge. The cost per extra guest (max. 2) is € 15 p.p.p.n., including the mandatory park fees and tourist tax. If interested, please inform the owner after booking.
- Parking is available on the park grounds (after loading or unloading).
- There is a Miele laundromat available at the park.
The Grutte Fiif (or Big Five) Safari Lodge is a sturdy and attractive glamping tent with air conditioning. The lodge is located in a beautiful green spot at the Yn 'e Lijte camping and holiday park (NL: in de lee). Accessible by bridge or bicycle ferry from the pleasant water sports village of Grou. Inside, the tent is fully equipped. A bathroom with shower and toilet (no toilet roll under the arm!), comfortable mattresses and a fully-fledged kitchen. You can also cook outside on the covered veranda or use the special pancake maker. You can also read a nice book, relax or have a drink from this spot on the lounge set. In the sheltered private backyard (unique with this tent!) there is also a seating area, a dining set, Weber charcoal barbecue and a very nice sandbox house.

Because of that 'love' for Friesland and Grou, we looked for a nice recreational spot for 'later'. That is why we placed the Reed Heron on Yn'e Lijte in 2021. Due to the enthusiastic responses to the rental, the Grutte Fiif Safari Lodge followed in 2023 and the Ral Heron was added in 2024.

The Grutte Fiif Safarilodge is located near the bicycle ferry to Grou. This ferry sails (from about April to mid-October) in a few minutes to the center of the village. The ferry is also part of the beautiful cycling route '8 van Grou' that you can cycle in 1 or more days from the Grutte Fiif.
