In a more than 100 year old listed mansion you are welcome to a special stay on the edge of a unique forest on one of the most beautiful places of South West Friesland. Located between Balk and Stavoren, near the IJsselmeer and the Rijsterbos as backyard you can not think of a better base for exploring the multifaceted Friesland.
We offer spacious rooms with all comforts and a nice breakfast and from the end of april the possibility to use lunch with us. Rijs is the perfect starting point for long walks, a bike ride along the coast and the many lakes in the area. Also horse lovers can enjoy many miles of bridle path, we even have horse boxes to your horse stables for a long weekend or week in the most beautiful part of Friesland.

In 1991 werd een bij het Schaatsmuseum een koffiekamer gecreëerd. Deze kamer groeide al snel uit tot een pannenkoekenrestaurant. Bezoekers liepen via het restaurant door naar het museum en de winkel, dus de naam ‘De Friese Doorloper’ was al snel gevonden.
