Zuidwest Fryslân National Landscape
The Zuidwest Fryslân National Landscape conservation area covers 51,420 hectares and is one of twenty National Landscape areas in the Netherlands. There are three distinct landscapes in this area: the IJselmeer coast, the rolling countryside of Gaasterland and the wetlands and lakes of southwest Friesland.
The woods of Gaasterland are filled with an abundance of flowering plants such as foxglove, wood anemone, collar anemone and wild garlic. Among the birds that breed here in the spring are sand martins. They are colonial nesters. But rather than building their nests in treetops, they dig tunnels in vertical slopes.

Klokkenstoel Indijk
Indijk had a church dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Around 1720 only the ruins with the bell-chair remained. The bell chair has been replaced several times since then, the last time in 1978 when the current chair was purchased.
