Stavoren - Workum | Elfstedenpad Hiking Trail: Section 6
links three of Friesland’s eleven cities. You set off from Stavoren and make your way first to Hindeloopen and then to Workum.
On your way out of Stavoren you pass the statue of the Lady of Stavoren and the playful Fish Fountain. From high up on the dike that leads towards Hindeloopen you have a clear view of the former Zuiderzee inlet.
With its little bridges, traditional facades and sights worth seeing, the picturesque little city of Hindeloopen offers much to enjoy. Needless to say, a visit to the Schaatsmuseum is a must. This Frisian ice skating museum traces the entire history of the Elfstedentocht tour skating event, so there is plenty to admire.

You pass the mouth of the It Soal waterway, which runs into the centre of Workum, and the historical It Toarntje lighthouse. In Workum you have a chance to explore this vibrant little town, its distinctive pottery, the Jopie Huisman Museum, which features the life and work of the self-taught artist, and the inviting Merk market square with small cafe terraces.
