Wandelroute Gaasterland: Jolderenbos, Rijsterbos en Elfbergen
Wandelroute door afwisselende bossen in Gaasterland: het Rijsterbos, het Jolderenbos en bos Elfbergen. Daar waar Friesland weids en ruim en vlak is, loop je in dit stuk van Zuidwest Friesland over glooiingen, door eeuwenoude bossen.
Vanuit Oudemirdum wandel met deze route van circa 16 kilometer door een drietal bossen in Gaasterland: het Rijsterbos, het Jolderenbos en bos Elfbergen. De Gaasterlandse adel zorgde in de 17e eeuw voor bosaanplant in dit gebied.
Via één van de oudste bossen van Gaasterland, het Jolderenbos, wandel je langs het IJsselmeer naar het Mirnserklif. Vanaf dit uitzichtspunt vervolg je de wandeltocht over de hoofdlaan van het Rijsterbos: het bekendste bos van Gaasterland. Daarna wandel je door natuurgebied de Wyldemerk en door Bos Elfbergen, wat met 175 hectare het grootste bos is van deze regio.
Het heuvelachtige en bosrijke gebied van Gaasterland is één van de landschaptypes binnen het Nationaal Landschap Zuidwest Fryslân.

Go to the beach at one of the three cliffs in the Netherlands: the Mirnserklif. Enjoy lying in the grass and go for a bite to eat at the pavilion of the same name with a view over the IJsselmeer.
V2 rocket launch site and Peace Temple (Impact location)
Gaasterland became the launch site of the German V-2 rocket in the last months of 1944. The rockets were fired from the Rijsterbos at southern England and Antwerp.
Wyldemerk
The Wyldemerk is a nature reserve with an idyllic lake. It is connected to the Slotermeer and the Fluessen.
Bos Elfbergen - Oudemirdum
Bos Elfbergen is the largest forest in Gaasterland.
Fountain Church
The Fountain Church is a Dutch Reformed church in the charming little village of Oudemirdum. It was built in 1790 on the foundations of a 13th-century tuff stone church. The second nave on the north side of the church was added in 1926.
